Red Bell Pepper Chutney


1 red bell pepper (large)
4-5 dry red chilli
3 garlic pods
5-6 curry leaves
2-3 pieces tamarind
1/2tsp mustard seeds
1/2tsp Urad dal
1 pinch Asafoetida (hing)

4-5 curry leaves
2 dry red chilli (broken)
1/2tsp mustard seeds
1/2tsp urad dal
1tsp cumin seeds
1 pinch Asafoetida
How to:
  • Wash and dice the red bell pepper, and keep it aside.
  • In a skillet, heat oil, add mustard seeds, when it starts spluttering, add urad dal, dry red chilli, curry leaves and hing. Then add garlic pods.
  • Now add the bell pepper and saute along with tamarind and cook until it turns tender.
  • Let the mixture cool and coarse grind it along with salt for taste.
  • Now, heat oil in a pan, add the tadka ingredients, saute and add it to the chutney.
Serve with idly or dosa.
